Recruitment Training and Career Development

Housecall Care and Support seek to recruit exceptional people to join its care and support teams. The Care and Support teams offer the highest quality of reliable, flexible and professional services. Qualifications and experiences are not essential as full training is provided.

Training and Your Career

Housecall Care and Support has a structured SVQ programme which allows you to study for a nationally recognised qualification in Health and Social care. Our programme has a bi-annual intake for SVQ level 2 candidates.

Each candidate is then assigned one of Housecall Care and Support qualified Al assessors to provide support and guidance throughout the process.

Additionally Housecall Care and Support encourage and sponsor staff to achieve higher SVQ levels as part of their continuous professional development and when their role and the regulatory framework demands this.

Housecall Care and Support's training department takes pride in the continuous coaching and development of staff to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to make a career within the company. Induction

Once successfully recruited you will embark on our induction programme, which consists of five days `classroom based' training at our training centre, and one day 'community based' training.
The 'classroom based' training aims to provide you with all the necessary skills and knowledge required to successfully operate in a care and/or support environment.
Some of the topics covered include:

  • Moving and handling
  • Protection of Vulnerable Adults
  • Dementia Awareness
  • First Aid

Once this element has been completed, newly recruited staff are well supported through our staffing structures. You will become part of a team and as such allocated a Team Leader who will provide you with any required mentoring and support.

12 weeks after your induction your practise will be reviewed to ensure the skills and knowledge learned at induction are firmly embedded into your work practise.

Ongoing

After the induction period has been completed by staff members, ongoing training needs and continuous development are identified by means of regular supervision and their annual performance reviews.

Staff members will have the opportunity to access a wealth of internal and external training courses. At Housecall Care and Support we recognise that many of our staff have to combine both work and family commitments therefore we have tailored our training programmes so that it is accessible and fair to all.

Some of our ongoing training courses include:

  • Risk management
  • Recording and reporting
  • Communication skills
  • Team working

Housecall Care and Support can also provide you with the opportunity to complete an open learning course in order to gain a National Certificate in; Further Education, Dementia Awareness, Equality and Diversity, Occupational Health, Safe Handling of Medications and Infection Control.

Recruitment

Housecall Care and Support undertake a 2 stage recruitment process. All applicants who are shortlisted proceed to an initial telephone stage interview which takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

If you successfully meet the standards required at this stage you then progress to a face to face interview.

You will be informed in writing as soon as possible whether you have been successful or not.

All offers of employment are conditional and subject to suitable references and an acceptable enhanced disclosure Scotland being returned. If you are a non resident in Scotland you do require to have appropriate work permits and working visas.
